Patrick Smulders is co-founder and trustee of the Horizon Foundation. He is a private equity investor and is currently Managing Partner of Freshstream Capital.
Previously, he was Managing Partner of Bregal Freshstream Capital, Managing Director at TowerBrook, Senior Managing Director at Soros Private Equity and founding Partner and Managing Director at Doughty Hanson.
Patrick previously served as a governor of Rugby school and as a trustee of the Royal National Children’s Springboard Foundation.
He earned his A.B. from Harvard College and his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. He is married with two sons.
Ondine Smulders is an existential psychotherapist with 15 years of clinical experience working with individuals and groups.
Before entering the therapeutic field, she spent more than 25 years in investment banking and subsequently as an economic and political analyst at the Economist Group. This has given her a grounded understanding of strategy, governance and how organisations function.
Clair Buckingham is the Office Manager and Marketing Coordinator for Freshstream Capital. She has previously worked at Bregal Capital and 3i.
A Law graduate from the University of the West of England, Clair pairs her professional drive with a personal passion for expanding educational access for the next generation.
Maury Shenk is an experienced lawyer, entrepreneur and investor, with expertise in artificial intelligence, education, IT services, digital media and green technology.
Maury is CEO of AI start-up Ordinary Wisdom, advisor to global law firm Steptoe and education company PeopleCert, non-executive director of the UK subsidiary of AI scale-up Anduril, managing director of his family consulting / investment firm Lily Innovation, and an investor in UK start-ups. He speaks nine languages, and enjoys competitive dinghy sailing and playing the guitar.
